The floundering AOL ship

AOL is jumping on the webmail bandwagon.

From today it's begun beta testing aim.com - its
free web-based email service - available to all
net users and not just those dwindling numbers of
AOL subscribers. This week it reported that 2.3m
subscribers went AWOL last year.

Desperate for publicity, they gave their last after
a whole passel of former 'fans' jumped ship. A bit
late weren't they, and not at all visionary.

I've talked to a couple of folks lately who've
tried to uninstall all that AOL crap. They're not
happy. It's like the plague. It hides everywhere
and is very hard to cure.

Hammer and anvil technology, AOL.

Good riddance, if you can manage.
